Hello guys, tonight I have been trying to design a minimalistic design for my site. I have been getting complaints that the design I made last week is unstructured and many other important inquiries. I sought out to fix these problems, and as I was trying to fix them, I decided to do a whole new design. This is what I have so far. All you can see right now is the homepage. Once I get comment and suggestions from this wonderful community, I'll make the other pages. I'm willing to take any suggestion and answer any question. Thanks

I know that when I make designs you guys don't like the calligraphy. The reason I'm using it is because I'm trying to put my creativity into this design. I simply love calligraphy. I've been using a fountain pen and nib pen (dip pen) for three years now. My favorite calligraphy style is Chancery and various versions of Gothic.

Hmmm.. There's a difference between minimalist and nothing there. A blob of giant text isn't doing anyone any favors.

No problem. Removing things until the design breaks while making it still look good is a difficult task.

Like basically keeping what is absolutely needed? I read something on that yesterday, I'm not really sure what it means. My site is already broke in IE 8. I'm not absolutely sure what you mean.

Minimalism requires you to figure out what your site is about. What is it trying to convey. What's the single most important aspect? Think about it and think about it hard. Then make that the focus. Right now you have what? A reply of your tweets? If that's the important part then work with that. Minimalist doesn't mean to puke your text there - make it look cool. Play with subtle tweaks of the font, div framing, and scrolling or ways your text interacts with your page.

Hell not all people can work well with minimalist frameworks. It might not be for your site.

I meant that in a design point. Take your site, remove unnecessary things until your site becomes poop and broken in a design standpoint (not necessarily a functional point). When you crossed that line into a crap site then dial it back a few notches to where it last looked good.

Minimalism is the most difficult of design types. You still have a lot of learning before you'd be able to pull that off.

Also, if this is a business site, I would recommend keeping your personal and website twitter separate. If I were your client I would not like to know about your sniffing of hair or singing of songs.

lol @creativecoding. It's not a professional site, it's more personal. lol exactly why that stuff is there. My more business stuff, if I ever get around to, will be on my envxsoftware.com domain name. @Lemur, I hope that I'm capable of pulling off amazing designs one day. Thanks for all the feedback.

Takes time and experience. Just keep reading away. Really though for me Web Design is just a hobby, I'm in for Unix sysadmin in the long run.
