Count me in, probably. I'll write a bot, but in the (unlikely) event that I win, I probably won't want most of the prizes. I'm getting ahead of myself here. So, I'm in.

EDIT: Forgot to say which language. I'm using Java.

count me in, im gonna start spicing up my Lua bot now :)

question: can i mix languges? as a Lua and C++ kinda guy i like mixing the two...a lot. Lua on it's own is too simple, i really need C/C++ to make it over the top.

edit:
i think we need to come up with a to specify how bots except commands. we a way that insures that 2 bots won't have the same commands.

Make that a feature of your bot perhaps? Being able to change the prompt? And, yes, of course you may use whatever language/languages you want. Super points to anyone who writes it in BrainF*** or Whitespace!

Just a heads up that a tutorial for an IRC bot in VB.NET appeared. It might help out those who are riding the fence.

IRC Bot 101 - basic bot layout and creation.

I will talk about a deadline with the moderators involved this evening. We seem to have enough people to consider this now.

It really depends on the deadline as I've got other things to do but I'm interested nonetheless.

I'll be using mainly PHP.

Good luck to all the participants!

I'll be game. C#, .NET 4.0. Though I may branch out if multi-platform is a bonus. Maybe Mono.

@Modi, I'll probably do a similar tutorial for C#.

I was thinking about just doing a straight 1 to 1 port of the code.. but if you are doing it - go nuts!
