Okay I understand that it is not the most professional font, but I don't see what's so bad about it? Explain?

I agree with you, but it isn't as professional as this guy right here (Arial) or this sexy beast (Times New Roman).

Okay I understand all that, but I know people that truly HATE comic sans. I see that it is not professional but realistically that's the only thing it has against it.
Can someone please tell me what makes it so terrible?

I don't see a problem with using a font as long as it is readable. I understand why some dislike reading it and the need for professional standards, but once you "hate" a font, you might have a serious case of minor brain damage.

Every time I see some one use comic sans in a presentation I die a little inside.

@gavis: That's the response of someone who hasn't been through enough presnetations using it. The whimsical nature of it dies a quick death when it's beat a bloody horse to pulp. I hate a lot of things in life and that font is in the shallow end, but it's there.
You were never there when it was over used in Word docs, websites, and so forth. An attempt to bring jovial nature to a presentation and all it did was make it more annoying to read.
If your go to "make it fun" well is comic sans then you are in trouble. Either buck up and say "this is important" or say "fuck it" and attack your audiences sense of self.
It's not professional.
It's a half assed attempt at saying "sorry I can't make a presentation interesting so here's a shit font to make up for it".
It's used by "that guy" to death for all his work because it's "fun".
I can't go to dafonts.com to pick a more germain font.
Comic sans lost professionalism.

Why would you think it's a good idea? Anyone? Has presentation and professionalism hit that rock bottom to think otherwise?

I never said it should be used in presentations, in fact I explicitly stated that comic sans isn't professional. However, I did say that if I use it on the forums for instance, it shouldn't upset people if it is readable, and ofc everyone has their own perception of what is readable.

By presentation I'm sure he means any public document.

Very true. Though saying that, and comparing it to every other thing people go nuts over for no good reason, I'll add that most of our species must be born with a 'case of minor brain damage'.
Anyway, the font is as good as any other font. The only problem is a disagreement on the standards for font use. Unfortunately its just not as clear cut as say, using a dripping blood Halloween font on dear old aunty's funeral items.
...Scratch that. I just made my first post-death request.
