They never send out all the investment slips out until the end of February here, so I still have to wait.

Got mine done. Looks like I screwed up on my withholding last year, so now I owe the IRS $65 this year. I'm in no hurry to send it though, I will wait till April to mail it to them.
Won't make that mistake again.

It's so much easier over here when it comes to taxes. Everything you buy already has v.a.t. in the price and income tax is taken by your employer before you get the cash. The only people who have to do taxes are the self employed.
Just as well as with my memory I'd be in jail for tax evasion

well we get the option of whether or not we want them to take our income tax out of our paychecks, i have them pull it out before they pay me as well, always have, so for the most part i look forward to income taxes because i pretty much just end up putting a list of deductions together (like what i pay for school) and getting a decent sum of money back to me.

The last rebate I got was £500 just before Christmas, it was the most perfectly timed tax rebate I've ever had

We got our taxes done earlier this month; we already got the return electronically.

It's essentially the same here, but there are also a variety of other factors. While my employer does subtract taxes before I'm paid, I also have to pay taxes on investments and other income, deduct for things like retirement fund contributions, all that fun stuff.

Don't you have to do things like keep hold of all your receipts etc? (I'm going from what I've seen on Roseanne and the Simpsons here
)
