I did my taxes about a week and a half ago, the returns are now rolling in...


Tonight I picked up an object that has consumed that entire tax refund -

I'll be making a lot more this year, I did a quick crunch of the numbers and if I don't make some adjustments I'll end up paying in next year

No, not really. Of course, if you think there may be a chance of an audit, it would be prudent to have documentation that proves your claims. For example, if I claimed a business expense of $10,000 for two workstations for developers, it would be a wise idea to actually have the receipts for that.

i finally got all the info i need from work, school, etc to submit mine. Not doing it myself... too much damn work, $30 down the street and i'll have my refund in no time

I think your tax rates are lower over there than over here. We get raped every pay day and everytime we buy something. Especially tobacco and alcohol.

We have Sales taxes for buying things, and income taxes based on what we make and what we're supposed to pay.

where it really hurts is how they rape you at the gas(petrol) station

Booze and smokes are taxed higher 100 - 400% $5 us for a pack of smokes now they call em sin taxes

then there is federal Income tax ( Who is this FICA guy and why is he taking 1/3 of my check?)

State income tax (

state sales tax (sort of like a VAT)

local sales tax give the city its due and if you are rural it is county)

property tax ( aka rent and lease payments for your house and car to the tax man cause after all you never really own it)

fuel tax ($.35 a gallon in MO)

Gift tax (Grampa gives you a car or $1000 for school then pony up some chedda for the tax man)

captial gains tax (for if you sell something and make a lot of $$ it gets taxed again besides the income tax)

and the game is to play enough according to their rules or fudge them just enough to get as much money back from the feds and state to buy a bag of groceries or pay off some debt.

no... it depends on the city. in west minneapolis it's 6.5%, in east is 7%, south is split up, edina is 8%. fucknuts

6.5% is MN sales tax, any more is a city or county established sales tax, I know St. Cloud has 0.05% Sales tax which would bump it to 7%.

Yes I have several milage logs and quicken accounts set up for my accounting for the business related expenses.
3 more years to show a profit before the farm is deemed a hobby and not a business.

My household expenses are still less then the standard deductions for a married father of 1.

This past year I got $6200 back out of my payroll withholdings because the farm is just getting started and we had 7000 in losses.

Sofar for this year we are breaking even.

There should be a thread called ask Thorian a question, you can just answer all kinds of unusual questions asked by the kiddies, game show style with fabulous prizes and all that jazz.
