Star Wars The Old Republic

Posted 28 July 2011 - 12:24 AM

First off, I apologise if there's already a post relating to this, my work computer sucks balls (IE 5 = Fail!) and the Seach doesn't work.

Anyways,

Is anybody planning on playing once it comes out? I've Pre-ordered my copy, and signed up with the 'Head Start' programme. Hell, even got my Guild set up ready fo a mass stream of players :) (My Guild was first founded way back in the days of Classic WoW)

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I don't play MMO's that have a monthly fee. Too much pressure to put in the time to get your moneys worth. I'd rather buy a game and play when I feel like it. I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2.

Lol, like it's fucking ancient history. :P

I love the KotOR games, so I'm seriously interested. But I really don't want to bother with the hardware. Also, everyone and his sister is going to be a Jedi, which sounds deathly dull, no matter how you cut it.

Well, from what I heard it's basically just WoW with Lightsabres. Now, if Bioware hadn't stated time and again and they were going to take MMOs to the next level, that would be fine. Well, not fine, but less of an issue.

I did like KotoR 1 and to a lesser degree (because it was only half-finished) KotoR 2. But after Dragon Age 2 I don't think I want to give Bioware any more of my money. And definetly not on a monthly basis.

DDO is my MMO of choice, mainly because it's free. If I were to pay for one, it'd be GW.

d&d online pissed me off the last time I played. Free my ass. More like crippled unless you engage in the micro-transaction economy. Then again I think that was two or three years ago.

I loved it. You weren't walking around for 10 years killing hundreds of rats for 10 rat pelts that gives you over 9000 xp. In DDO, leveling was slow, the quests awesome, and no xp for killing random things. Makes it hard to level whore. You actually had to play the game instead of going around level whoring before coming back to town to pwn lvl 1 quests and impress the virtual ladies. It was actually challenging.

I disagree. When I played there was some silly level cap I couldn't get past, playing solo was clearly the path to choose least, and in general some of the enemies were oddly balanced. Well - that's what I remember from when ever I played last.

Didn't like DDO. I like to solo when I want to, group when I want to, and DDO pretty much sucks for solo. It does have interesting character design, but I don't have a lifetime to throw away getting the characters anywhere.

Strangely, the same developers make Lord of the Rings Online. Also free to play, entirely unlike DDO, and quite exceptional. I even paid for some content, liked it that much. All the classes are well thought out and have the ability to play alone and with others. The healer classes are great fun to solo, so healers are not a problem for groups.

I don't play MMO's because I know it will destroy my life if I do. Even playing a single player RPG like Diablo or dungeon siege wreaks havoc with my life until I get it over with. I get little enough sleep as it is without staying up until 5 am because I'm questing for something or trying to level up.

I enjoy some MMOs. I kind of liked Eve but was short for money and none of my friends really played, so I canceled it. I'd be willing to give this a go at some point.

I enjoyed them when I was younger, plus I'm a big fan of the Star Wars franchise. While I'm not really a gamer, I might be willing to give this a go provided it's reasonably priced.
