Create Form That Behaves Like A Dialog Box?

Posted 28 July 2011 - 04:02 AM

I would like to create a custom form that gets data from the user. The user can only access the form while its open so like a message box.

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

Well, what do you have problems with?

  • Create a form.
  • Put controls on it.
  • Decorate it with buttons like 'okay' and 'cancel'.
  • When you need it create an object and use 'show dialog' or'show' depending if you want it modal or not. Modal being locks all the forms below it until the modal form is dismissed.

Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for the word "Modal".

Many Thanks.

What have you tried so far?

Putting
Me.Show vbModal
in the
Private Sub Form_Load()
worked for me.

Hope that helps,

You'll also want to change the Form's BorderStyle property to 3 - FixedDialog. Otherwise, the user can minimize, maximize, and resize your dialog box, and also every other dialog box has only the close thingie.
