modi123_1's Graphic Design Competition Voting

Post icon  Posted 01 August 2011 - 11:09 AM

So the latest graphic design competition is now over. There have not been many entries this time but we still need a winner :)

Here is the original brief:

Quote

With the middle of 2011 upon us we've seen some pretty interesting things. Extreme weather (flooding, tsunamis), the Arab Spring, Voyager I and II hitting entering the heliosheath, 3d tvs, a tanking global economy, and so on.

What I am looking for is picture of future predictions, breakthroughs, or significant milestones for the world; be it one or many breakthroughs or events.

Let your creativity run loose. The winning image will be featured on a full splash page of our magazine. We bill ourselves as a monthly full colored magazine that focuses on tech trends intersecting with culture, politics, and economics.

I believe everyone has a niche talent so the medium you choose is up to you. Digital painting, photography, collage, vector design, 3d rendering, or what you deem suitable. I would also like a text statement that ties in with your image to be incorporated. Quotes are fine as long as the author is attributed.

The time line for these predictions should be anywhere between August 2011 and August 2012.

While the topic seems open don't overwhelm the image. Do some research, hound some trends, and make the image pop.

cliffs:
- future predictions for August 2011 to August 2012
- format of choice
- text incorporated
- Will be featured in one splash page of a magazine

Please vote for your favourite entry and feel free to discuss why you chose it below.

No matter how much fancy glass and gesture based technology advances the internet will still be full of porn, ads and spam. Oh and Internet Explorer will still suck.

Good entries! The USB stick is very well crafted, I presume you did it all yourself?

Not sure why there'd be ads in future tech like that.

Why wouldn't there be? I mean, if we're predicting the future by the present, I'd be worried that there'd be more ads. Then someone will come up with AdBlockGlass or something, but you've heard the old phrase "death and taxes", talking about the only sure things in life? I think we can add "ads" to it as well.

Also, @, I think that no matter how much ground IE loses to aftermarket browsers, it'll always be relevant simply for the masses that don't know what a browser even is. They think the "E" is the internet.

lol, IE will be relevant as long as MS keeps pushing it(probably a long while). people need to learn to use better browsers for real.

They're honestly getting better. I've been playing around with the IE10 preview, and they're doing well on a lot of HTML5 stuff. I think they're accepting the fact that they need to comply with standards. Also, some of their next-gen applications for Win8 will be done with HTML5/CSS3/JS, so they're going to pour a lot more support into it, I think.

Ok, those R2's lookalikes are a bit predictable and perhaps too soon, because, in my opinion, we've been warned by T2. But, that doesn't meant it ain't gonna happen.

Staycrisp's entry is more obvious, because in our growing technology age, that doesn't appear to be too far away.

I like how confused the womans face is, that's what gave me the original idea. It's slightly hidden now but you can still make it out :)

I don't know - the first two glossy images are great, but who ever did that last water color painting is on to something. Bright and organic coloring, stellar use of detail, orgasmic inking, a pointed message that other members have suggested on the impending metal one's take over, and a minimalistic quivering of je ne sais quoi. I also heard rumors that artist is just devastatingly handsome in his leather jacket, white t-shirt, and sweater vest. ;)

So, even in the future, the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
