StarCraft 2 Starter Edition!

Okay the bastards got me. I'll go home and download this starter edition and see what the hell is up with the hubub of this so-called "StarCraft". Demo++ isn't bad.

Quote

Blizzard has replaced its traditional StarCraft 2 demo with a new bundle of content it's calling the StarCraft 2 "Starter Edition." Anyone with a Battle.net account can download and play it, although you will need to be online to play. Here's what you'll get to play with before you have to pay:

  • The first four missions of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty single-player campaign, including Mar Sara 1-3 and the choice to embark on Tychusís first mission or Dr. Hansenís first mission.
  • The first two Challenges: Tactical Command and Covert Ops.
  • Access to the terran race in Custom Games and Single-Player vs. AI.
  • Access to the following custom maps (map selection may rotate over time): XelíNaga Caverns, Shattered Temple, Discord IV, and High Orbit

Your progress and achievements save to Battlenet and carry over when you upgrade.

You should get the full version :) its worth, EVERY LAST PENNY. I keep in touch with some pals in kansas, we get together and 3v3 or 4v4 if we are all there :) it gets pretty fun when you decide to do a screw it playstyle, once we were all terran and built nukes only. NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED! had to have been heard at least 70+ times good times :)

If you have time for this, then you have too much free time on your hands.

Retired?

Meh - I played three of the four missions and I am not impressed in the slightest. It appears to be just SC2 with more pretty graphics. Am I missing something truly thrilling?

Yes you are missing alot. The whole competive multiplayer. Like the GSL, MLG and many many other tournaments and leagues all for starcraft 2. Just this weekend blizzard held a invitation for the best people in europe and the guy who won got 10.000 $ iirc

Well its your decision but IMO I found the multiplayer component of SC2 a lot better than the single player campaign. I found the campaign to be somewhat lacking but I have thoroughly enjoyed many multiplayer games in SC2 (favourite race is Zerg :D). Plus I found it more interesting when you get to the higher leagues (diamond +) whereby you generally will find that players innovate a lot more and can make for some really intense yet fun games. It all depends, You can have fun if you just play it for fun but if you make the multiplayer component very competitive, then in this regard, it matters more on whether you enjoy dedicating a lot of time to it or not.

I have the game and personally think it's pretty awesome but ye, up to you...

Welcome to my list of "things that ruin my gaming experience". Top of the list "other people - douche optional".

So a multiplayer game with a compaign tacked on. Cest la vie. So it goes.

Man I love multiplayer. I definitely can see how one wouldn't be into Starcraft 2, though.
