I just bought Elements 9 becuase I heard it had a character palette with a 'small caps' option, but I have spent 3 hours clicking everything, searching help, and so forth but I can find no character palette or any other option for making small caps text.
Please let me know if there is a way to make small caps text in Elements 9, or if I have wasted my money.

I see, well barring that the best way to do this would be to create a textbox for the first letter with a large font size then create a separate text box with a smaller font size, and type in all caps.
Doesn't look like Elements supports this functionality out of the box.

Gimp? Artweaver? There are alternatives, and while they don't stack against a full photoshop they can certainly hold weight to elements.

Look, Lemur.. if that is your real name. This is the type of thinking that gets people into trouble. This man was obviously assigned Elements, and should not stray from the path that has been presented to him just because things got "hard". If he were looking for an easy solution he obviously would have gone with one of these better, open source applications.
So, while your suggestions are appreciated, they are also misguided.
Good day, sir!
