Can't read ID3DBlob variable when creating ID3D10Effect

I'm creating a simple DirectX program but there is an error in the .fx file, so I debugged the program to see the value of the ID3DBlob variable, but the output is
0x0011e8c8



I thought the value was supposed to be a string that has the error. Am I not doing this right?
Here is my code

	ID3D10Blob* pError;

	D3DX10CreateEffectFromFile(TEXT("Effect.fx"), NULL, NULL, "fx_4_0", D3D10_SHADER_ENABLE_STRICTNESS, 0, g_pGame->GetDevice(),
		NULL, NULL, &g_pEffect, &pError, NULL);

	LPVOID l_pError = NULL;
	if(pError)
		l_pError = pError->GetBufferPointer();

What you have provided tells us nothing. It looks as though ID3D10Blob* pError; is successfully allocated. It's not a 'variable', it is a 'pointer'.

I get the strong feeling you don't know what this code does, and are not very clued up on C++.

I believe the code creates the ID3D10Effect and if there is an error in the .fx file then l_pError will be set to the value of whatever pError->GetBufferPointer() is. And I also believe I have a proficient knowledge of C++.
