Hi,
I work for an IT Recruitment organisation called Harvey Nash.
Over the past few months I have been working closely with a number of high profile games companies to secure them IT based staff. Up until now, we have been helping them find Web Developers/Database Experts/Java Guys etc etc, but nothing directly involved in the development of Games themselves.
Recently I have been asked to work on a Senior Tools Programmer position in the Midlands, and was hoping for some advice on where to start.
I am not being lazy, and asking for recommendations (although, feel free). Instead I am interested in learning your thoughts on the best ways to engage with this community.
For example - What are the best Social Networks/forums to reach the right sorts of candidate?
I would be very apprciative of any help you can give me.
Kind Regards,
Stephen

Well, LinkedIn is always a good place to start. Be careful about it though, lots of recruiters use it to basically spam people, so a lot of people just ignore various recruiters that send them messages.

I would go where game developers are. Since 'tools' are a subset of the gaming industry that's a good place to go. My guess is there are people who have written tools, but a scant few who do it 100% all the time.
