flash and html

hi,
1) i have created a flash file in as2 and than inserted it in a web page.
the flash file contains linked buttons, but when the file is used inside a web page it doesnt link me anywhere.
when i use getURL("index.html","_self") nothing happens.
when i use getURL("http://www.index.html","_self") it appears the adobe flash player table that says that has stoped an unsafe operation.
2) maybe my flash player isnt working. if so how to fix it?
any idea?

run it through a server or localhost (local server)
