Dream In Wikipedia

Posted 20 September 2011 - 12:19 AM

Why is there no Dream.In.Code article yet? I Google'd top programming communities and this is the top. If DIC had one what could you suggest it contains? Who should write it? Why shouldn't DIC exist in Wiki?

PS: Dreaming In Code is on Wikipedia. Just saying.

Because Chris keeps this site under wraps in fear that FBI will come after him looking for the stolen information, from his days working for teh(misspelled on purpose) government.

Edit: And those who tried to make one, now shall remain in the basement of Chris forever.

And some things do - namely DIC.

I don't think we need a wiki page, we're famous as it is. I don't see many forums with their own wikipedia pages.

Still, I think it is a good idea - think of all the potential business opportunities you could make.

Well, it would certainly increase the traffic that DIC gets, although the increase could be arguable.

I think this is one of those things that are up to Chris and everyone else needs to bugger off.

I wonder how fast it'll be defaced, spammed, or have silly changes made to it.

It's extra work. It's "original research", since the people writing the article would also be site members. And frankly, we don't need it. People don't need an encyclopedia to know that we're a set of programming forums. That's about it.

A wiki simply isn't needed for an online community. You can tell by the name, Dream.In.Code, that's a programming community (I hope you can). Also, what benefit would a wiki have? Would someone go to WikiPedia just to search fro DIC like they would a search engine? Searching "Dream In Code," the top result is this site, it wouldn't be to hard to find DIC.

Just a wiki with common faqs, rules, prereqs for badges, staff listing, competitions, awards, etc. in one place wouldn't be bad. tbh I find these a little hard to find on here.
