I used to organize events like this - it's incredible how much fluff is left out about getting into games. What studios are after is raw talent when it comes down to it:

1. Can you produce quality work?
2. How quickly can you produce quality work?
3. Can you keep up such a performance over possibly years without burning out?

Things like that.
