That's pretty awesome indeed, however at the same time it intrudes ones privacy say you see this one hot chick and you snap a photo so you can find her on facebook and friend her instead of walking up and saying "Hi" because you don't have the balls to do so, that's just plain stalking. As much as I love this concept and would actually love to see it in action however if it goes out to public in mass production say cellphones can use such software, I believe there will be a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.

That technology isn't accurate. All your doing is using statistics using the probability or the odds of it being a match.
Like at the police station they need to have a front direct shot of the face with the same amount of lighting. Like if you use your cellphone to take a picture and the lighting isn't accurate or lets say she has a photo on facebook but that photo on facebook are indoors and like has good lighting. Well your cellphone photo of her on the street at night with just the street lights giving little light. The software will say none match. I doubt that the pictures would have at least a 50% match maybe a 40 or 20 percent match. So if the software requires that it must be 50% or more that odds are that it's the same person. Then it will grab that facebook profile as the result of your search.
I doubt they can master or make this technology more accurate. The only way is to have cameras that can take 3d or generate a 3d model of the persons face. Still even if you use that you would still need to take a direct face picture of the person.
what if on facebook they uploaded fake pictures of others... like there are ways where you won't find the person on facebook or on another website. that is if she dosen't have her pictures on facebook or take pictures that are not of her face looking directly into the camera.
So just my opinion I don't think such technology can be accurate only if you don't directly look into the camera have the same or close enough lighting to the pictures in the database.
So, I only think it's good for police or other organizations where they can force you to look straight into the camera and put your picture in their database where they can take a picture of you again in the same amount of lighting and having you directly looking at the camera again they can then search for a match of those pics which should be in a 90% probability odds that the picture is a match.
