Who do you guys think has the best hosting? I know a lot of people like host gator but what other really good options are out there that people use? I know there is free ones but free is not always the best.

I use 000wehost, its got 100GB of bandwidth, 1GB of storage, E-mail, FTP, and other cool features, and, best of all, it's free!

I hear a lot about that site what is the catch do you have to use a sub-domain or anything or can you use your own domain name?

Well you can use your own but you have to change your nameservers to something they ask you to, or you can have something like:
Http://www.mystical.hostzi.com/
If thar doesn't bother you, its quite a good service.
