Well this has been a pretty big year for me and my family. In June we had a new baby girl, who is fantastic, every bit as gorgeous as her older sister, but if we thought our first baby was good, this one's amazing, 3 months old and never ever cries, just grins and giggles and tells stories for hours.
Then in September we bought our first house and moved in, it's got a sweet big backyard for the kids with 2 massive maple trees that shade the whole area in summer, and my garage is a full 3 cars wide by about 2.5 cars long (total mancave!!!).
Now 2 weeks from Monday I start my first real developer job, with salary and benefits and 401k and all the stuff that real people get, no more lowly intern job for me, and I'll be making more than twice what I make now, and more than myself and my wife combined make now!
Then in December I will get my bachelor's in computer science.
I just really felt like sharing. Anyone else loving 2011 as much as I am?

we only do that after you unsubscribe.
(also, chris is the biggest proprietor of the livejournal style posts, so i say let hookie have his moment and let people chime in)

Ah.. what a hilariously timed post of mine.
supersloth - if you are feeling that down I know a girl from Ohio, who is out of a job yo, for a little money, she'll let you tap that honey, and you'll be a winner again!

Why don't you unsubscribe?
(I'm well aware that this was a pointless, waste of time thread, but I'm in a happy place and wanted to share, so stop messing with my chi!)

mexican express? From what I understand she'll accept what ever you have in hand. She'll run it through the slot; her fees are not considered a lot. Just make sure your HMO covers penicillin.
I think I might save up for this bad boy.. but I am not sure if I can scrape together 300k by the end of the year.

Introducing Meka Robotics’ S2 Humanoid Head: It has seven degrees of freedom, high-resolution FireWire cameras in each eye, zero-backlash Harmonic Drive gearing in the neck, and a ton of unnervingly-human movements and postures. She weighs 7.6kg (16.7lbs), has a pair of luminous, waggling doggy-like ears, and can be attached to a Meka torso and arm, if you prefer your robots to be slightly more corporeal. The girly, anime face is just a custom skin, incidentally: Meka will customize the shell to look like anything you desire. We’re told that they value their client’s confidentiality — and more importantly they don’t judge.
...
The only real barrier to robotic companionship, then, is pricing: the S2 Humanoid Head, along with a robot arm or two, costs somewhere in the region of $300,000.

A nicely stereotypical dwelling. A solid flat roof to pass out drunk on.
Is than xTerra in your drive way? Lucky bastard!
