Redesign of my Site
Posted 13 October 2011 - 08:51 AM
I have used the HTML5 boilerplate for this as well and it has got a brilliant score and would be better if it wasn't for Google. A lot of content is missing due to me only properly starting this yesterday.
I look forward to any feed back as I am a developer not a designer.

@shezzy I hadn't checked it on my phone, but I am either going to use the HTML5 boilerplate for the phone version or show that I can use Sencha Touch.
@Shane As I said above I am wanting to show of some skills and I liked the distraction free mode in Sublime so thought I would do something on my site. I am still tinkering around with it. The headings look better in other browsers than Chrome due to it being so crap at custom fonts. It is a CSS hack I have on it that removes the sharpness. I forgot to make it just Chrome so will do that when I get back.

The site took a while to load while I was looking at, and if you are preloading everything the amount of time it takes to load will only grow as you add content.
What you can look into doing (because you're a developer you might like this) is using ajax to load content. So when some one clicks on a menu button you make an ajax call to retrieve the content of whatever they clicked on put it in a div and slide that div over. This way the site doesn't have a ton of hidden or preloaded content and can run supa fast.

I like the whole design, though the top part should stand out a bit more. Its all just a block.
Tested on:
Midori: Ubuntu
Firefox: Ubuntu
Safari: iPhone 4

If you have any suggestions of other short cuts I could add that would be cool and I am thinking of adding a few Easter eggs into the site as well.
