How did you get hold of a Visa?
Network Solutians said told me it was 2k+ for younggun.com and just over 1k for young-gun.com
GoDaddy is crap. I have been in contact with users of it. Hate the whole way. And the site? End of story.
I hate DOT.TK so much, ads, spam email and simple take-downs.

You are usually fine going for the cheapest well known one. Always use coupons. I stick to NameCheap because all of mine are there now, I used to have a hundred spread over twenty different sites!
JacksonD, that would be because the domain is taken. If you use whois.sc or another whois to find which domain is available then you will not be offered ridiculous prices!

I'm thinking, If I give someone SOMETHING besides money, they they might just be able to buy the domain for me. I would only choose someone trustworthy.

Like I said - register domains through 1and1 or godaddy - get your hosting elsewhere.
If you would have checked - both younggun.com and young-gun.com are registered. It pays to do a bit of research.

Tell your parents you are trying to be the next Mark Zuckerberg and to just buy you the domain, along with paying for the cost of hosting. I couldn't imagine them not wanting to help you to learn web design and development at your age.
I wish there was the internet when I was young. I would like to think I would have started much earlier instead of spending my time mastering Legend of Zelda and Contra.

They know I'm good at computers, Just not as good as I really am. Try telling a person that has trouble turning on the computer, and a father who runs a computer business, but has no idea how to code (he fixes/installs). Its hard.
You can get prepaid cards? Probably not in Australia. I'm going to check though.

Does your father's company have a website? You could always just create a subfolder on his host, and run your website out of there until you are done with the development.

.me address are hardly unprofessional. I know of a number of web services that use .me domains, and I myself have one. http://blog.raynes.me
A domain name is just that -- a name. It is a way to get to a website without remembering an IP address. Unless it's foo.partyinmypants, I don't think it is possible for it to be unprofessional.

Exactly what I kind of pointed out there. I was basically saying at the end that my previous statement was hypocritical, since if I believe one country code TLD is unprofessional then they all would be. I also own a .me domain for my personal site
