Gnome On Knoppix?

Posted 21 October 2011 - 04:05 PM

Well my laptop is really getting up there in age and it happens to use some of the worse drivers for wireless that you could have with a linux box IMO (b43 broadcom). I chose knoppix because it came with support with them out of the box (I had had so much trouble with it on ubuntu and fedora).

Well I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to change the window manager. I know you have to type knoppix desktop=gnome/fluxbox/whatever at the boot prompt but I have not been able to find a good tutorial on how to get to the boot prompt. I thought I was at it but after I started typing (a few seconds or so) then it just booted.

By the way, this is 6.2. Thanks for the help!

Are you using GRUB? If so which version? Also do you have to start X-Org manually every time with startx or are you using xinit?
