Passing data from PC to Android via WiFi

Posted 22 October 2011 - 05:01 PM

Hi!
I'm look for to make a Android app that the user can use together with a PC app i've made.

I'm looking for to make a Android app that connects to the PC app via a user specified IP (local)
And then the PC app is going to send the requested data back.
The thing is that i don't really know how to do this.
I think that i would have to/should use socket and TCP
But I'm not sure so i want to get a second opinion on this

And if socket is that best way to go, is there anything that i should look out for when getting data from a PC (like converting the data) or is i like doing a p2p-app (example: a chat program) on PC?

Thanks

Yep. You'll need sockets. This might be a helpful link. The principal is the same phone to pc.

I'm not sure if your looking for a socket or an app. An app that does what you described is Samsung's Kies Air.

I'm looking for to make an app that i can connect to an PC-app i've made and sync send data to.
I don't want a existing app, i want to make a Android version of the my PC-app so the two can work together :)

I've set up a socket to send a simple text so i can try it out.
But i can't run it.
The console says "ERROR: Unknown option '--no-crunch'"
I've googled it, but can't find any info

Sometimes i don't get that Error, but when i try to launch the app, i get:
ActivityManager: Error: Activity class {com.socket.test/com.socket.test.SocketTestActivity} does not exist.
