In the interest of figuring out what sorts of challenges would be well received, I was curious to see what the main use of Ruby by our community was. As a whole, the language is heavily involved in web development, but Ruby is useful for many other things.

Resources we hope to pin soon include general Ruby cheatsheets, and possibly those related to frameworks or little recipes for specific uses.

Actually I don't really like Ruby for web. I do like it for general scripting and sometimes as a glue language. But Python is quickly filling that niche for me too, so I don't know where Ruby is going to go for me in the future.

I've just been using ruby for a while now, but I like using it for all my infrastructure code (including a rails web application for a client/boss).

I like the glue language challenge idea. It might be cool to do a challenge series, where a large, cool project is broken up into 3 challenges, 3 modular pieces of code, and then at the end they can be put together and placed into the opensource repo-sphere.
