I've just bought a film off iTunes and it plays fine on iTunes.
However, when I copied it to my Documents, because I wanted to put it onto my walkman, I found that I couldn't play it.
On my walkman it says that the file is damaged, so what can I do?
Thanks in advance.

no. It is an MP4 player. I also checked the file type, and it was MP4.

Well.. how about a brand? Does this mystery device support apple's formatting? Perhaps the file has some sort of copy protection on there? Did you notice anything about that when on itunes?

This is a fairly new, Sony Walkman MP4 player.
I have just checked the 'info' of the film, and it says that it is a Protected MPEG-4 video file, so that is probably the problem
Thanks anyway

Apple has had a bit of issues with drm and Itunes. However I would start here before tiring any other work a rounds.

If your're going to use Itunes, you will save yourself some headaches by using Ipods and Apple hardware with Itunes. Otherwise, you might be better off using Amazon's music service for strict .mp3s.
Apple, as much as I am a fan, has pretty much decided that Itunes + Ipod is the way to go. Apple has formats that arent exactly generic .mp3 player friendly.

Honestly without getting into too much of a debate, that should be illegal... But, again if you want to use anything other than ipods, but you must use itunes to buy music/movies/what ever else, Then I'd suggest looking for some DRM stripping software. Honestly, if someone tells me its pirating because your removing protection off of an audio file. They really need to understand the concept of Purchase. Once its mine i should be able to modify it however I want.

iTunes has been drm free for a few years now.. At best it just embeds who bought the song. No funky restrictions.. but as it is I use Amazon downloads and that works fine.
