I need help with something

Hey im taking on a project with one of my friends... we want to make your own Instant Messager service something like AIM that will interact with AIM /AOL and host it on my server i am not sure how to start this?? you got any idea?? we will not be promoting it will be for just our friends... but thats all. but im not sure if i script it in VB or C++ i heard it was both... im not sure what one to belive... btw this is also my first project for both VB and C++

sounds like a pretty big project....do you know anything about programming, because that's where you need to start...

Before taking on such a big project i would definitely start with learning some programming. I would choose vb to start out with. I know you are all saying "Did runtime actually choose VB over C++?" The answer is yes. First off VB is easier to learn although it does give bad programming techniques. but still it is easier to use and has a graphical user interface and i am sure you can find a tutorial or some sort of book on internet programming with Visual Basic. and plus you don't have to go through leaning how to program in dos it is straight to windows programming. But you still have to learn it. So choose VB. You'll probably get to making your program faster.

I think you can do it with VB any way.

Any questions ask. I probably won't be able to answer, but i'll try.

hmmm. I don't know where you will find exactly what you are looking for but i did find a cool page that includes internet programming.(but i would not skip directly to this section.)
