So i've only been working as a web developer for about 2 months now, but already the monotony of sitting 9-5 staring at the screen is starting to get to me, not to mention the constant neck aches/head aches from sitting there for ages.
How do you lot deal with it? Or do you actually enjoy sitting there for hours on end coding?

Why would you sit motionless for that long? Get up, take a lap, don't sprout roots!

Well there's nothing else to do. I could get up and wander around the office for 5-10 minutes, but it would be fairly pointless and then it's just back to the computer anyway,

Ah.. the point would be to get up and move around.. go talk to another department.. walk around and get some fresh air.. that's the point.

talk to people face to face instead of sending them an email if you can.

Not particularly easy here, as it's a college, so mostly you're dealing with teachers and they're usually in lessons or in another building. But I could try.

Are you the only one in your department? Even if your co-workers are in the next cubicle, get up and walk over there. Working with computers has you in one spot for long periods of time so anytime I can think of something I need or an excuse to get up and walk around for a bit, I take it.

First, I don't sit. I stand. I built a standing workstation. I can either stand at it, or use a tall bar stool to sit or half-sit at it. That helps a lot.
Second, I set a countdown on my phone for 60 minutes. Every hour I go do *something*. Go outside for 5 minutes. Do some situps. Do some push ups. Throw the toy with the dog. Wash the coffee cups in the sink. The point is to do something.

I'm feeling the urge to pump out a 'dev alarm' clock for Android. XD
