I have an up tp 40 mega bits per second download speed and up to 15 Mbps download. My old Windows 7 64-bit went up to 20 Mbps wireless. I formatted the HD and installed Ubuntu. Now if I go to the internet options it says something like the max speed allowed is Mbps. This is ridiculous. It should at least go to 15 Mbps. Is there a file I need to edit to change this? My wireless card is a Netgear Wireless-N 150 WNA1100. The router/modem is the Qwest Q2000 or something like that. It has to radio bar things sticking out of it. Is there a special firmware I can get for it?

Check all of the devices on your network. If one of them is really slow, chances are its the cause. If you had a Gigabit device and a 100BASE-T device on your network, the network will always slow down to the speed of the lowest speed device.

Ps - WirelessN doesn't always travel at 150, thats just what its rated at.

Thanks. It sped up after I reinstalled the GNOME network manager. Now the speed says the max is 64 Mbps.
