Developing Java applications on phone?

Does anyone know if there's a type of phone (iphone, android?) that it is possible to develop java applications on?

Android is Java. It simply has different, optimized APIs that you use. There are other mobile platforms that use Java as well, but it is Java ME. I believe both are free to develop with. iPhone needs Objective C, a $100 yearly subscription, and you have to own a mac, and it certainly does not respect Java at all.

Ah, so I just read there was an SDK. Can these applications run on PC's though?

I didn't realize there was a mobile development topic, sorry. In fact I haven't looked past the java pages.

Edit: I've always despised Macs for no real reason =P I might have a reason now.
