"Is This A Good Question/Topic?" only allows post up?

Posted 15 November 2011 - 07:49 AM

Hey DIC,

Is this by design or should we be seeing a post down for the original posted question?

Using Firefox 8.0, and IE 9.

On the first post - yes that is be design. Everyone else after should have an up or down vote.

Right, but subsequent posts are "Was This Post Helpful". Maybe I am being nitpicky, but to me the first post suggests that we can down vote the initial question versus whether the post helped to answer the question. Also that suggests to me that there are metrics about questions that good/bad and about helpful posts good/bad.

The language between the first post and all subsequent posts was to clear up intent. It was found many people were downvoting topics because the initial topic was not helpful or useful to them (the person passing by). It's only an up vote so if the topic didn't tickle your fancy you just moved on. The subsequent posts voting would then follow with the OP.

Also that suggests to me that there are metrics about questions that good/bad and about helpful posts good/bad.

I would guess that everyone has their metrics on why they vote and many may not be the same reason.
