midp emulator keeps crashing, warning messages displayed please advice

Posted 16 November 2011 - 04:44 AM

Hi, I'm currently working through John P. Flynt's Java ME game programming book and i've hit a dead end, I installed all the software, changes the environment settings on the system but when I type midp -version into the command prompt it displayes the following messages before showing the versions:
Warning: could not open config file(;C:\j2me\midp2.0fcs\lib\internal.config): storageOpen(): invalid argument, ;C:\j2me\midp2.0fcs\lib\internal.config
warning: could not open config file(;C:\j2me2.0fcs\lib\system.config): storageOpen(): invalid argument, ;C:\j2me\midp2.0fcs\lib\system.config

those same warnings appear when trying to execute the compiled code, and also when the emulator starts it crashes instantly (I'm running windows 7 64bit).

Please could you advice on how to solve this issue.
Thanks
Dave
