Qt library installation on Ubuntu

Posted 19 November 2011 - 10:12 AM

Hi!

I need to install Qt library 4.7.4 on Ubuntu.

What I did:

1. Downloaded an archive of the library (for Linux) from official site.
2. Unpacked it to /usr/local
3. Started ./configure (it took a several minutes)
4. Than entered make command and got an obstacle (on the picture)

I have been spending a lot of time to solve the problem, but I no way could do it.

Question: What did I do incorrectly and what I must do to correct a mistake.

Thank You

P.S. Sorry for my English

Is there a reason that you are trying to install this from source? Is the version of the QT libs supplied through your package manager not sufficient? QT is a very big project and has many dependencies, and if you don't have one of these required packages in exactly the right place the build will fail. You may want to check out this site for a listing of the dependencies for this package on Ubuntu. But it looks like you should be able to install that version through your package manager much easier.

I downloaded it from http://qt.nokia.com/downloads

(Qt libraries 4.7.4 for Linux/X11 (202 MB))
And I used an instruction: http://doc.crossplat...ed-install.html

But the obstacle appears nevertheless.

And when I setup Qt SDK (all kit - Qt Creator, Libraries, etc.) automatically - Qt library became available through Qt Creator. But really there is a reason to setup only the library without all SDK, and I have to do it manually in order to know Qt architecture.
