Re: New years plans?

My main New Year's Eve plans involve not being in a bar or anywhere outside of walking distance from my apartment. I have no interest in being surrounded by amateur drinkers, and being on the road seems like a pretty bad idea. So I might stop in for a few beers with friends in the neighborhood, but that's about it. Maybe I'll start a batch of mead or something, that would be a fun tradition to start.

I will (1) not get laid, (2) get more neurotic and bitter, and (3) get one step closer to becoming my mother.

(1) not get laid - Really? Planning a year in advance? That's just sad. If you want to get laid and have the guy gone by morning, then go to backpage.com/escorts, and take out an ad. May as well make a few bucks while you're at it.

(2) get more neurotic and bitter - Ummmm You are a woman, this is a given

(3) get one step closer to becoming my mother. - I knew your mother. She was a great lady when she wasn't being neurotic and bitter; which was pretty much 24/7, so let us know how that works out for you. jj.

Wife says this year it's got to be something else.

I hear marriage is pretty much just like this right? lol jk I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm not much of a partier anymore because it seems all the people I know that are mature and know that growing up is required have moved away. I may just hang out with some friends and cook out depending on the weather.

To be fair, we have done the same thing for the last umpteen years. It really is time for change. Perhaps I did not quite phrase it accurately ;)

Most likely hitting a local bar and getting absolutely shit-faced. I have a friend who works in said bar, with the potential for a lock-in.

For those that don't know: coffee covers the scent of Wishbones.

I don't have a plan as yet. Been watching The Walking Dead pretty religiously and the wife kept up with me last season but she hasn't seen squat from this season. Discovered last evening that they're doing the entire series so far on 12/31...but she may be down in Florida for New Years visiting her folks.

New Years has been, for the past many years, an event we either stay home for or walk to (if the neighbors are having some kind of get together). Where I live, Johnny Law looks at New Years Eve drivers like a fat kid looks at a donut.

Because I live in Lower Redneckia, there WILL be minor explosives going off starting right around 6PM or so and lasting til around 1:30 in the morning...so I have that to look forward to.

Skimming the thread, I read "I have a friend who works in a salad bar", which made the potential for a lock-in seem less than appealing.

@witchbanger: Be careful where you tread. B9 is our local feminist, and not a morning person either might I add. For your sake, I hope she's had her coffee by the time she logs on. :)

Actually, I'd bet PETA is hitting a salad bar for New Year's Eve. A lock-in with PETA would be amusing, to say the least.

I need to get around to some brewing. I got a kit last year and haven't even used it yet due to crazy moving around/life adjustment stuff. I do have a nice holiday around New Year's (more than I get for Christmas, actually) so I might do it then.

Luv you too, B9. Merry Christmas. Maybe I'll make my New Year's beer a bitter... just for you.

The most important thing about brewing beer is that meaning to do it doesn't get you there. Make the time, it's completely worth it.
The second most important thing, of course, is to sanitize everything you're using. Clean beer is good beer - go nuts with the oxygen bleach. Just a pro tip.
