Game Developers wanted (strictly voluenteer)

Posted 04 December 2011 - 03:29 AM

Hello everyone,

I am seeking anyone who wants to develop their experience and portfolio in the game development industry. My name is Aaron Thompson, and I am CEO of indie game development studio Dark Rising Studios.

Dark Rising Studios.com

I have started this topic in hope to gather some more team members on our project.

Project Name: Cure
Title Name: Cure
Genre: Zombie Survival (Not Zombie deathmatch like COD)
Project Type: Community Based
Current days in development: 84
Current team size: 7 including myself
Story Progress: Draft

As stated above, Cure has been in development by people who work for Dark Rising Studios (voluenteer) or freelancers who want to boost their portfolio.

As of current, the story is on its draft version. We have a sound composer who has composed a few music clips (theme, suspense, menu ).

We are using a in-studio engine that is still being built. Some art has been done, but halted until engine is in beta functionality (quite soon).

Cure is not a paying job. Everyone of my team members know that and they have all pulled together on this community project.

I am asking you, if you would like to signup and start working on Cure. The fields we are mainly looking for are:
  • Programmers 1+ any skill level (graphics recommended)
  • Concept Artist 1+
  • Architextural Modeller
  • Organic Modeller

But if you feel like you would like to work on Cure, please let me know here so I can inform you how to procede.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks,
Aaron Thompson
CEO - Dark Rising Studios

Strictly volunteer.
So not even a glimmer of some percentage of sales if it ever goes to market? Just the line item on someone's resumè?

Correct.

This community project is a free downloadable game. Everyone so far knows this and they have no worries about it. This game is... An 'intro' into the industry.

Could be a decent portfolio piece for anyone interested in joining the team, but unfortunately most people aren't going to be interested unless there is some form of payment. Good luck with the project despite this fact, aaron1178.

What technologies and languages? I'm proficient in most but if it doesn't fit my skill set then I'm a but Ergh.
Otherwise, I'd be up for it. A call to Environment.NewLine on my resume is welcome anyday.

[Edit] Looked at the site: C# is right up my street, but I have never worked with a pre-built engine rather than making my own, so CryEngine3 will be a no-go for me unfortunately.

Thanks pryogene,

The site is a little out-dated. We are currently using C++ and are writing our own engine for it.
Please signup to Forums. This is where we store all our content for Cure. Once you have signedup, you will be granted staff privilages and then you will be able to view all content.

Hello,

I recently found this website today while trying to learn C#. Saw a friendly community so I decided to join. I find your project quite interesting and would like to lend a hand anyway I can. At the moment I'm proficient in Java and C++. Trying to pick up C#. I'm still in college so I see this as a great opportunity to broaden my experience and something good to put on a resume. Feel free to contact me if you find a spot for me on your project. Thanks!
