I've heard some good things about Dvorak.

Here's my keyboard layout rant (hope you enjoy):

Perhaps DVORAK is superior to QWERTY in some ways. Or maybe it just seems that way on paper. The current world record for fastest typist was done on a DVORAK layout I believe. Does that mean it's better for the common user? I'm not convinced.

I firmly believe that if you pick a layout and stick with it you will become adequately proficient in its use. Not to mention that the ubiquity of QWERTY almost entirely wins over whatever slight advantage you may gain from DVORAK (for most users anyways) in the upper echelons of typists. If you are trying to break land speed records on your keyboard alright, but the common user isn't, so muh.

Pick a layout that makes the most sense to you and is the most comfortable for you and run with it. Ultimately it is the human who is the weakest link, not the hardware.

/rant

Holy fuck. I just did this while typing like my boss. Hunt and peck with a single finger... even though he's worked in IT for 20 years. URGH.

Words per minute (WPM) 13
Keystrokes 86
Correct words 13
Wrong words 3
You reached 64 Points so you achieved position 73343 of 76002 on the ranking list (last 24 hours)

Words wrong was deliberate... I (roughly) know his right/wrong ratio.

I just remembered where the keys were. If I want to type fast, I will but I feel as though it would just mean more mistakes.

Probably shouldn't have done this at work (on break!) - I think everyone in the cubicles around me are wondering, "Why the heck is he hitting the keyboard so much!?"

First try, I thought I was faster:

Still mistakes with one finger..... If your boss is so, ask him to die hungry... :P

Bosses and employees all are alike! :P

Yeah, he has insanely big fingers and he tends to hit 2 keys at the same time. It's fucking depressing watching him type.

kinda poor compared to some of you guys here. My problem isn't the quick typing its the habit of going back to correct something which takes up valuable time. I've also only just got onto the laptop again, so i'll try it again in a bit after i've gotten a little more 'muscle memory' so i can type more without looking :D

ok, that is agitating, I tried to partake in that site, and wouldn't you know it, but it apparently glitches for me, where you would expect it to move on to the next word after completing it, it stays there until you type another letter, at which point it dictates that the next word is incorrect... wow, way to successful partake in a conversation that interests me.

It doesn't automagically move to the next word, those are spaces between words so, when you are done typing a word press the space bar... Hmmm
