Hello,
I have posted on here before asking about coding for an IPAD. Now I have been asked to help with starting with a computer from scratch. I would be uploading new software onto a cleaned computer. I have never done this before. I do not have that much experience other than HTML, JAVA, etc. I have never tried to dive into something like this. Can anyone give me some advice of good websites to read up on before I go into this nightmare?
Thank You
I am a total newb can anyone help?

Can you explain more about what this "uploading new software on to a clean computer" entails? Are these complex applications like MSword, or single hit internal custom apps? How would the user go about notifying you that they need this software installed?

To tell you the truth my boss has asked me if I would like to learn how to build a computer from scratch and then upload windows (since that is what is on the company computers right now), our very own phone system that is on the hard drive ( all I know is that the phones are AASTRA), and our very own email system. We are currently using Thunderbird but I believe he wants to try and build his own email system.

So wait.. this isn't about a database, you just need to know how to install windows on new hardware?

Yes that an I was told that we would be building databases as well. He has given me an extensive list of what we will be doing. We will be wiping computers clean, Installing windows as well as building databases for our new company files.

Well.. most databases install like any other given windows app. Push in cd.. click through the wizard.. hit the finish... remove cd..
What database are you installing?

Oh wow I had no idea it was that easy. To tell you the truth he has not told me anything. He kind of walked into my office and told me we would be doing this. He never gave me any more details then said "Start looking up how to do it..."
He never gave me details on what kind of database or what the information we would be entering in. If I needed to know certain computer languages or what programs we would be using. That is why i am so confused. I guess this means I need to go bother him with a few more questions. I am sorry if this was a waste of your time. I just didn't know if there was a generic tutorial or book I could buy about rebuilding computers and installing databases.

Well building computers (hardware wise) is different than throwing in a CD and installing windows. Well.. in theory.
Assuming he has all the parts (and knows a head of time they are compatible) then it's an issue of snapping pieces in, screwing things down, and making sure you don't short out the bits.
Databases.. yeah.. pretty much a point and click install.

Thank You for your answer. I was very worried about this since I have no experience with it. I had no idea what I would be getting myself into. It sounds like it will not be as difficult as I thought though.
Thank you very much.
