Sorry, not meaning to make fun, that sounds like an absolutely wretched situation to be in. Depression's a bitch, and being sick in America is just a bad move. If you had to injure yourself, I would have suggested being born in Finland or someplace with a health care system.

Lol. Yeah, America's health care system is good, but it's hard to pay for treatment (that's not covered under insurance) when you can't work...

Let's see.. my collar bone is permanently off set due to gaining excessive speeds on a bike (that I knew had no brakes) and accidentally slamming into a pack of kids coming around a corner of an elementary school.

I took a direct hit by a 4th of July artillery shell in the back of my leg after having a fight with a few older bullies. They came back and threw it off a bridge (we were down in the creek). A kid I was with - his mom screamed that she didn't care we were burned and bleeding, but for the love of GAWWWWWD DO NOT GET BLOOD on her freshly cleaned carpets. I was able to hide the nasty wound most of summer from my folks until near when school started... I was in trouble for being past my biking boundaries AND concealing damage... thankfully the liberal use of neosporin and obsessive tendencies made the wound look substantially better than it should have.

That would allow me to work in commentary about ropes, taking 2 weeks to have a 5 second experience and my profligate use of oxygen immediately afterward...and make it all sound cool...or at least not as pathetic as mentioning any of that now would be.

I'd have to say the worst thing I've ever experienced was getting this shit beat out of me by a crazy 47 year old marine vet that almost hit me with his car because he was impatient to get to a funeral (I was walking across the street with the walk sign up and in the walking lane) I didn't know who the guy was but after almost hitting me he had the audacity to honk at me and tell me to get the hell out of the way, so I told him to go fuck himself. He got close to me stopped and pointed his fingers in my face asking me what I called him (I was a bit confused because I didn't call him anything, just told him to fuck off, but whatever *shrugs*).

I slapped his hand away (apparently coming at someone with your fists up threatening to kick their ass does not constitute as a reason for the person to touch you or slap your hand away when you point your finger in their face, according to the law at least). So after I slapped his hand away he started yelling "Ooooh he hit me first! He hit me first!". I knew what was going to happen then because there was nobody looking until he started screaming and somehow a crowed gathered. So I know that if I didn't get the first hit this guy would probably hit first and I proceeded to hit him and again, I got in a couple of good hits but then he got me to the ground and pinned me down and started busting my face up. I somehow got out of the pin and I could have ran... but I was so pissed off that I went back to the guy hitting him some more... getting pinned again and getting hit again. This time he started saying he was a lethal weapon and he was not going to let me go and told me he could easily gouge my eye out which he then proceeded to try, which btw was very painful.

The police got there and by then there were about 5 people watching and they put the guy in handcuffs I was a bit delirious and kind of out of it. They asked me what happened and I tried to tell them but the guy was yelling loudly that I hit him first blah blah... and one of the witnesses said they seen me hit him when he approached me (but actually I just slapped his hand away which I told the police officer, stupidly). Neither of us were charged for anything and I got to walk home with a lot of bruises on my face hating life.

I was 20 and arrogant, and stupid. I'm now 27 and a bit more wise (and more experienced in brazilian jiu jitsu) than I was before.

Whenever I look back on my bad times, I either find them funny now, or they just don't seem as bad as they did at the time. That being said, after reading some of your stories, I feel as though I cannot complain as I have not had to endure the pain of stepping on legos or running out of mountain dew. Yet. Dun dun dun!
