I'll contribute to that as soon as my thing isn't just a grey background with colored squares in seemingly random spots..

Good.. the world must appease my overly curios nature of their game development.

Hopefully I'll have time to scan freesound.org for some gun sounds that match the types I included.

Given up on waiting for my keyboard/mouse to arrive. So last night I rummaged through all the old hardware I have sitting in a spare room and found a 10y/o Microsoft keyboard, that feels absolutely horrible. I prefer laptop style keyboards not big sticky/noisy keys.

So I made some progress last night.

Inventory - Done
Itemtype - Done
ItemScreen - AlmostDone (needs item use to be coded)
LoadScreen - Done
Saving - Done (May extend to choosing your own save name if I've the extra time)
In-Game Menu - AlmostDone (need to code 3 more options, GABs/Quests/Map)

Here's a few screenshots again

First: In-Game Menu
Second: ItemScreen
Third: LoadScreen

And as promised, screenshot.

And just because I had fun putting together the controls page..

I've got all the main things in, so I'm on to testing for any bugs/mistakes & adding anything more I can. I've got multiple gun types (pistol, rifle, plasma gun ect.), need to work on giving the player more reason to use one or two of them.

.Aaron - You may be the only one with a finished game at the rate mine's going now :/ . At most mine shows a "Working Example" and still isn't complete. I have encounters now with a working battle system that still needs some tweaking but I'm busy all day tomorrow hopefully I can sneak in a little code before I die of sleep deprivation lol

Screenshots are of a battle of a random encounter.

That's too bad, especially having it happen in part over something like the whole keyboard/mouse thing. I was hoping not to run into this scenario again. You did just have have hardware troubles and have stayed with it to the end, though. That's more then these challenges usually seem to get...

Getting mine ready to send in now, vs waiting till the last second again. I just know I'm going to find one last bug or something in the morning though.

I just finished what I had to for the day so I get to doing as much as I can before it's time. Hopefully I can be of some competition lol....

Just thought I'd the "Game" as much as it is...
Thought I'd atleast contribute what I got, it has a few little helpful tools that should help me with any game I decide to make.

I can't see me further working on this, due to that time limit I had to rush a few steps so some of it turned out nasty. Practically all the code is documented line for line

ZIP - Genetic Dominance

It's quite a simple "RPG", just click to move your character Forward it will face the mouse using a method within "GenericMath" that works out a 360 degree angle based on vector2.
Right click to access the in game menu.

I think that's about it

Good, least you'll get something out of the time spent on the project even if it didn't work out. Ya never know, depending on how nasty those 'nasty' parts were, you may still stand some chance if you did everything in general better. It is technically a programming challenge, not an add the most features challenge, lol.

Guess I'll post mine here too while I'm thinking about it. I'll check out what you submitted when I get home tonight.

Project

Nice to have two entries into this challenge. A third might sneak in before the deadline, 12:00AM server time tonight. I promise to get you both feedback on your games.

I'll help you out, mine has a major flaw in screen management.
Logoscreen - > TitleScreen -> MainMenuScreen -> Load/NewGame Screen (this is where a loop can be made) , right click choose Load this takes you to a new game play screen, now right click again and choose load and this can continue until you get a stack overflow at some point I guess.
