I want to submit an entry to this. I have not decided on what language/framework to use yet though :(. If I pick XNA, i will submit it to the other contest.

The game itself wont be too big as it has been over 10 years since I wrote any kind of game. It will be a sort of RPG with random item generation, spells and leveling involved.

I've been working on a Galaga-clone using SFML in C++, so I might submit this as my first "published" game. You were very generous with the deadline, I assume you want professional games ^.^

Time for an update to my game. I am still working text based but have a map in which the player walks around with NPCs randomly created that also move around (randomly, nothing clever). I now need to make them take the present back if they see the player stealing one!

EDIT:

Here is a screeny!

A new level of hilarity to this... I am getting the graphics shored up, right? Gotta look all slick and fancy devil for the judge'n-man. At my disposal is: inkscape, Paint.NET, and MSWORD. Oddly enough - not too shabby... though I had to throw in a few filters so it's not quite so shameful to people walking behind me.

Oh, it's all in vB.NET... because I can.

How's everyone doing with this? Mine might not be polished, but damn if I can find the few hours to get the rails done.

Any one have any teaser images?

I just got done rewriting my bastard movement system... I considered this approach when I first started but the committee balked and threw it back in my face.

Just a few things left..
-- board image
-- map paths
-- help write up
-- random starting locations
-- random ah.. other-two-things-I-won't-mention locations.
-- maybe a score board.. who knows.

modi123_1, you said you were using VB.NET, did you include anything from the XNA framework in there anywhere? If not, I'd say finish this one, then make some changes using XNA and submit to the XNA challenge as well.

Ha.. I would but that would require slowing down the heaving behemoth that is my creativity... and relearning the xnas.
