how do you insert pictures in an access/vb database, lets say we work with employees and we need a picture for each employee

best way to do so is in some sort of SQL database (oracle, sql, mysql) and storing the data in a image data type (stores the bits of the image) then you would just receive the bits and draw the image from the data that was stored.

I would suggest it is a better idea to store a path to the picture in the database, and store the pictures themselves on a file server. there is no advantage to storing the pictures directly in the DB, and it can lead to DB bloat quite quickly. MS Access in particular is susceptible to performance degradation once it reaches a certain size.
