The Hobbit

Posted 21 December 2011 - 12:48 PM

Really? Not a single peep about this? Is no one juiced about this movie finally coming out, or is everyone waiting with baited breath for the last Twilight flick?

Holy f'n crap of awesome in the trailer:
- no Smaug seen
- yes three trolls! (2 min in)
- it's rude to have me hear Thorin sing and I can't see this right now!
- Martin Freeman (who ever that is outside of Pirates of the Caribbean, amirite?! just kidding brits.. keep your knickers from bunching up)
- no goblin king seen
- Lake Town's somewhere, right?
- No hint at the five armies
- no Beorn seen
- no Mirkwood elves seen
- no Shelob seen

I dig the over all tone and I think they got the "adventure" feel down from the book.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 1

Also - who the hell is Benedict Cumberbatch, and what qualifies him as the voice of Smaug? His picture is namby-pamby, and his body doesn't look like it could justly hold the voice of Smaug.

Side fact - if Smaug has a british accent I will rage... stomp.. and throw an epic tantrum.

Edit:
Oh, and the goblins better sing the goblin town song!

Nice! Did not know they had a trailer for this I will have to watch it when I get home. The unfortunate part is that it is still a year away from release!

I've been eagerly anticipating this film for a while now! The Hobbit is definitely one of my favourite books, I just hope that Peter Jackson hasn't ruined it for me! :)

Saw the trailer earlier this morning on a different site. Quite impressive.

As an aside, was I the only one who noticed that the movie has a secondary title? The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Might could be that the whole story isn't told in a single movie? Lord of the Rings wasn't and it IS the same director.

Yah.. yeah.. the story is broken up into two parts.. the first part (probably to Lonely Mountain) and teh start of the battle of five army ... then the second carrying through that battle and trying to bridge the time between the hobbit and LOTR. ugh.

Wow, I'd forgotten about this. Watching that, my LOTR obesssion has been re-ignited. Hmm.. 2012. I think I may go back and reread the book before then. I year is just too long. :sarcasm:

This movie is just a rip off of LOTR.

So are they going to use the same film they shot in the lord of the rings as Bilbo's memory of getting the ring? Or do they just have a similar look and feel to the cavern there. It looks like the latter in the trailor. Another thing: I wonder if they will show gandalf and radagast fighting sauron in southern mirkwood? Doubt they will even mention it. That was my favorite part :(
