Hey all, I'm fairly new to the programming scene. However I've always heard trade magazines are good to read with keeping up on current happenings in the industry. Now I realize more and more paper is going bye-bye and everything's digital, blogs and the like, however I wondered if there were any good magazines for software developers or database concepts and designing? If anyone subscribes or knows of any publications I'd be interested to know what they are.

Well, not specific to programming, but I subscribe to Wired (and Cosmopolitan) and occasionally look at Popular Science and MaximumPC.

Awwww Neo is such a geek. Lol.
A good one that I buy is Linux user &developer. It's out of the UK so editions can be expensive in store. Newsstand on iTunes has it for 6 bucks a copy or 60.00 a year.

Visual Studio Magazine is a good one if you're into .NET.

There are good Java and .NET magazines around here (Brazil). Theres is also a Linux Magazine that I quite enjoy, but you rarely find programming content, mostly system administration and news in the 'linux world'.
Can't really recommend any to you since you in USA
