Is the software made in vs.net 2010 run in windows xp?

I want to make a desktop software in c#.net in visual studio.net 2010, my question is that is that software run in windows xp also?

Yep. WOrks fine. So long as you don't deliberately try to make use of Vista/Win7/Metro specific features of course.
I strongly suggest installing VMware or some other virtualization technology on your development PC so you can create a couple virtual computers for testing. This would allow you to debug and test inside: WinXP32, XP64, Vista, Win7x32, Win7x64... etc. without having to actually have 5 physical PC's. Visual Studio will let you send the debug directly into one of these virtual machines so you can watch it operate, check its variables, see the crashes and so on just as if it were debugging on your real machine.

can you give me any link from where i can download VMware or other technology you talking about as i have not heard about them before. Thanks for your reply.

I would try vmware.com first, but that's just me. Or you could try bing, google, askjeeves, etc.

I would actually suggest that you use VirtualBox. It's made by Oracle and has a more user friendly UI. VMware may be better (I think it actually is), but I prefer VirtualBox since there aren't many capabilities that VMWare supports and VirtualBox doesn't + VirtualBox has a more nicer UI.
