USB Hosts and Clients coding.

Posted 02 January 2012 - 12:45 PM

HI. As an electronics year 2 student at college we are set the task of designing and creating our own project given specific criteria. I decided to create a robotic arm which connects to a computer via USB, to do this I'm really stuck I'm using a 2 port PIC and 6 motors, these motors are split into 2 sets of 3 (to minimize pin usage) as i am using stepper motors which require 4 pins each, the USB is to send the signal of which motor to address and for how long it is to hold it there for. I've looked round for a good few hours and can't find anything on the web, the computer program will be made in visual basic 2010. How do i get started on coding the host (computer) and the client (the arm). Even a small start of a site to look at or a few bits of code would be great.

Many thanks.

*Moved to Software Development*

Perhaps you should look at a 3rd party robotics API to use rather than trying to reinvent the wheel here. There are a bunch out there.
