Here's a small challenge for all you graphic designers out there.
Create an animated signature like the one I am wearing at the minute. I used photoshop for mine but I'm sure the tools are there in gimp. Another good tool to use is Flash, you can create an animation in Flash then export it using a sprite sheet tool and then use those images to create a gif in photoshop.
Feel free to discuss and post mock ups in this thread!

Yeah it's pretty nasty. Although they have introduced a tween like thing, I didn't know how to use it though so I just went with frame by frame.

Yeah that's what I am doing.. I know enough from watching 6.3 seconds of a youtube clip and just powered through with making frames... and what not. Pffsst... learning how to do this proper? No time! Too l33t!

Learned enough to have the most efficient outcome - me flailing my arms around and some how animation occurs.

I found that the easiest way is to make each frame a different layer and then hide and show as you move along, that said one mistake can totally mess up the rest of the frames.

Yeah.. I've been just doing a physical move.. until I have a really cool idea, create a new layer, and add the new object... but then I have to go back to the start and hide the new layer from the first frame to the last...

Or shift select the next and last frame then hide it

It can be done with GIMP but I've never tried. There are a couple tutorials in the GD tutorial section on animated GIFs using Ulead GIF animator. I recall there is a 30 day trial on the software if people would like to try that out.

Ulead GIF Animator... I think that is what I used for my first ever animation (a charizard going into a pokeball
)!

Here is my entry, mates. Enjoy.
I have no idea how to add a signature, I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to as a user, but here it is.
