I am looking for a small team of people interested in coding as a hobby.
The purpose of this team is to learn off each other while advancing through personal study of script.
You must be self motivated and have a passion for games/game creation in general.
There is no age restriction but you must be mature
Have a good high school level understanding of math (data management, some calculus)

THE PROJECTS

phase 1: Get familar with the coding language (we will be using various langauges)

phase 2: Practice on simple tasks (make a calculator, tic tac toe game)

phase 3 : Make replica retro games ( tetris, Mario)

phase 4: Come up and stick to a bigger project ( make a custom retro game)

phase 5: End Goal is to eventually learn to make a 2d RPG game (other aspects like spiriting,audio,video will also be learned along the way)

THE TEAM

Looking for one mentor to refer questions to on top of forum posting ( be a patient individual with teacher-like qualities. Be able to guide us on what skills to learn next to meet goals) and 2-3 total beginners to coding and game creation

Seems like an awesome idea. I'd like to join please. I'm still in high school (a junior) I'm good at math, I've been working with C++ for some time now and I'm working on Pong and Tic Tac Toe alone. I want to gain experience possibly learn new languages and make an awesome game by joining this team.

This is so going to fail. Total beginners and a Mentor to keep everyone on track? Noone is going to subscribe to that.

well i realize that the long terms goals involve time to achieve but I think we should be able to get through phase 1-3 without much help at all. Understanding tools like variables and functions doesn't take too long; I'm just looking for people with the same interest in learning Clearly getting determined people will be the hardest part but what I'm really looking for is peer level learning.

Understanding variables and functions? You should have some major projects under your belt in order to develop a game, not building some hello world program.
After 3 months, please post here what you have achieved as a team.

I'm really appreciating the reality your bringing in on this topic, so thank you for that. but instead of trashing the project as a whole who not give us tips on how to tweek our goals to be better met. I'm also not sure what we'll achieve as a team in three months because as of now there is no team. Maybe you could tell use where we could be in 3, 6, 12.. months down the road if we do stick to this

Why am i the one to tell you where you could be in this period of time? You could achieve something and you could be lost as well. Sign up user waleed95 and you have a team cuz dont count on anyone mentoring it.

I could be tempted by this but I need a more defined shake down: platform, languages, skill sets, milestones & goals, time commitment, general locations, and such.
