CentOS for i686 computers

Posted 10 January 2012 - 06:09 AM

Just downloaded CentOS to run on one of my servers. But when I try to install it onto my server, it tells me that my computer is i686 and the kernel is for x86_64. Is there a different download for i686? I cant seem to find one.

Yes, software like that usually comes in 32 bit (i386/i586/i686) and 64 bit (x86_64) versions.

Looking through some of the CentOS download mirrors, I found this page. It gives you a choice to download i386, which should work fine for a i686 processor (if a tad slower).
