OEM Vista won't activate, no phone option

Posted 10 January 2012 - 10:05 PM

I re installed Vista Home Premium x64 on a Gateway computer with it's oem key and a generic oem disk. The problem is now I can't activate it. It won't accept any input I give during activation and there is no option for phone activation. I have tried slui.exe 4 and it does not work either. I have tried re installing vista again but now the installer won't accept the key. I am confused and getting frustrated at this point. Any suggestions? I can't just call Microsoft without the prompt, and the original CDs that the computer came with are no longer available from the Gateway site.

How old is this gateway? Recent? It seems the big companies are moving towards specific install disks for specific lines of computers.

You get none of these prompts?

Sounds to me like the disk you're using could be the problem. If you have an authentic cd-key and a real OEM disk for the correct operating system version, there shouldn't be any problems. You should check for the original restore disk from: http://restoredisks.com/
