Even though i have experience relative to programming i always had the doubt about wich is the best way to learn a new programming language.Recently i bought a book about PHP and MySql to start studying them, so basically the idea of this thread is to share experiences and tecniches when you start learning a new programming language.

Moved to the Corner Cubicle. This doesn't belong in Freelancing.
I think the answer most people will provide you is that you get better at programming by programming.

It's not gonna happen matrix style, but you might start noticing that concepts you struggle with become clearer after a nights sleep. You gotta read up on and try applying the concepts first!

If you get stuck on something, the best thing to do is STOP and walk away. Go read a book, go for a walk, watch a movie, go to sleep whatever, just get your brain away from programming and usually, the solution will hit you like a ton of bricks.
Trying to read an learn from a book or samples straight through won't work well.
