I'd thought I would start programming a game that I am good at doing, although this is officially my first Indie game, I have the map planned out, the dialogs I am currently writing atm, and I am open to suggestions and ideas. The game is about rescuing the player's sister from a gang of extremists enclosed in a big tower. You have to go from floor to floor trying to find the player's sister and get her outta there. The engine I am using is Byond Dream Maker, just a basic 2D tile editor, plus it has its own language(Don't know the name atm). The map is scaled from 100x, 100y, and 406z. For beginners, X is length, Y is width, and Z is Height. But the "Z" Axis just takes you to a different area of the map. Mostly its gonna be inside a huge tower, some houses on the outside, and the environment outside the tower is just a big forest.
My first 2D map. A work in progress.

You should provide more information about the game. Just throwing out ideas is quite pointless and doesn't serve anything. I could say that you should have a sword as a weapon in your game but is that really a useful suggestion to you?
It sounds like you are making the whole map as a single object. I would divide it into levels so there would be no need for the Z axis. Play Diablo and TorchLight to see how they did it.
Also because this is your first game, you should aim low. Make a prototype with just one level and one monster and one weapon/armor to learn the engine you are using and what kind of issues might arise later.

Thank you for the notice. But I did that already with the one level, I tested the sword and shield as well. I'll provide more info as soon as I can.

Well, I finally did some research and just a little over 4 hours ago and started editing a small map for Project Tacitus. The map is divided into 12 sub maps, all are around the same size as the other maps. The axis grid is 100 X and 100 Y instead of going overboard with over 500 x 500 y with 50 divided sub maps. The second sub map is actually a Lobby, while the first is just coming or going from the map. The only way to get to the other sub maps is to find a NPC, who will teleport you to the next map. Don't worry I programmed another one in case you wanna go back where you were previously. The second sub map I am still programming icons, mobs, and objects to fill the sub map, so its not currently finished yet. It took me 4 hours just to finish 2 sub maps of what I actually wanna put in. Meaning the first and third sub maps are complete. Now the third sub map, since I watch World Wrestling Entertainment, I made a map where you kinda get that arena feeling. So I put a enclosed arena near the center of the map with stands surrounding the ring, also this where on my 2D based RPG game is where 1 player will challenge another player to a fight to the death on sub map 3, the reward is getting a 20% portion of the player's gold that you've slayed in the ring, also under the watch of a mass group of NPC's who will act as security, or Riot police as we see in our society today, to make sure that there is order on sub map 3. Finally, I hope to get all 12 sub maps done and I could release it for a beta in the near future, but I cannot say when.

I have a question about the coding on Visual Basic for Beyond dream maker. The maps that I am programming, and the entities too, is it possible that the RPG game that I am currently programming, be converted into a different coding language such as Microsoft C# Express 2010?

Yes, it's called 'porting'.
