Blogspot!

No, seriously. It's really easy to use if you're totally new to blogging, plus Google rewards it better than Wordpress sites in the search engine rankings.
And it's 100% free.

Hmmmnnn... the OP might be well into his work by now, but the question is generic enough to still attract many viewers.

My two cents:

Blogger is the way to go if you just want to jump into your writing. A wide variety of templates are available for it, and the HTML code can be tweaked slightly too, to further make what you want of it. So if you want to focus on your writing, perhaps as a creative outlet, go with Blogger.

WordPress offers a wide variety of options and plug-ins, but it will require more attention to the admin side. If you are technically inclined and want an excuse to learn something else (perhaps another experience to add to your resume), go with WordPress.

In either case, I recommend writing the first ten blog posts beforehand in a word processor. If you cannot write ten posts before starting your blog, that is an indication you might run out of ideas, and you might reconsider starting a blog--before putting a lot of work into it.

Well I think creating a blog channel on Wordpress will be good to run a blog from scratch. I am suggesting this because indexing, crawling of images and keywords, reputation is very vast and free of cost. So if you are a beginner then wordpress will be a perfect platform for you.
